REID Lifting Supports #GLAD2023: Elevating Lifting Awareness to New Heights

Global Lifting Awareness Day (#GLAD2023) is just around the corner, and the excitement is building within the lifting industry.

We are proud to support #GLAD2023 and its mission to promote safe lifting practices, drive professionalisation, and raise awareness about the industries importance. By joining forces with LEEA and other industry stakeholders, we are actively contributing to the advancement of the lifting industry and ensuring a safer and more efficient future for all.

This year, the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) is spearheading a comprehensive program of events and activities to promote safe lifting practices, advocate for professionalisation and standards, and raise awareness about the industry's crucial role. Here at REID Lifting, we are proud to support #GLAD2023.

The significance of #GLAD2023 is further amplified by its opening event at the UK Parliament on the eve of the day itself. This symbolic gathering serves as a testament to the growing recognition of #GLAD2023's importance among policymakers. LEEA is actively engaged in ongoing conversations with the UK Government's Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), particularly concerning UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) marking. This collaboration demonstrates LEEA's commitment to representing the voice of its members at the highest level and working towards constructive solutions to address the lifting sector's challenges.

In its fourth year, #GLAD2023 harnesses the power of social media to disseminate videos, articles, and in-person activities while directing individuals to the dedicated website. Since its launch in 2020, the website has been a repository of valuable information covering apprenticeships, military recruitment, diversity, sustainability, and technology in the lifting industry. Participation in #GLAD2023 is open to everyone involved in the industry, from individuals to major corporations. By utilising the hashtag and sharing the rallying call — 'We promote safe lifting, so we support GLAD' — or organising in-person and digital events, industry stakeholders can effectively advocate for professionalisation and standards.

LEEA has unveiled an exciting program of events for #GLAD2023, available at https://globalliftingawarenessday.com/schedule.

Ross Moloney, CEO at LEEA, expressed his enthusiasm for #GLAD2023, noting the various elements that will contribute to its success. Alongside the live webinars and technical forum, there will be scheduled announcements throughout the day, ongoing references to military recruitment and apprenticeships, and an unwavering commitment to promoting safe and high-quality load lifting. By sharing materials that emphasise safety and excellence, #GLAD2023 aims to raise the profile of the industry and highlight its crucial role.

In addition to the industry-focused objectives, #GLAD2023 provides a platform for LEEA’s chosen charity, the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association. This partnership aims to raise essential funds for research and improve access to care for individuals living with or affected by MND. The MND Association will also make an appearance at LiftEx and the LEEA Awards in Liverpool later this year, further solidifying the lifting industry's commitment to making a positive impact beyond its core operations.

As #GLAD2023 approaches, let us unite under the banner of safe lifting, sharing our knowledge and experiences to elevate the industry and make a lasting impact.
